I guess I'm one of the lucky ones... I battled my ex for three years in court, always comign up with the shortest of straws which meant very little to no time with my daughter. Even the 7 days a year I was originally granted was withheld by ex when I would request to see my little girl because the court order was written in such a way that she had to agree to allow me the 7 days... which she never did. Finally, in 2004, my family came to my support and we ended up back in court with a new attorney and a new hope. As the hearing progressed my attorney skillfully navigated the muddy waters my ex's attorney tried to create. They tried accussing me of abuse, neglect, and just about anything that would make me look like a danger to my own child. My attorney requested the court appoint a GAL to represent our little girl and I have to say to this day the combination of my attorney and the GAL were the best thing that would have every happened to me. The GAL sw right through their lies, my attorney never backed down,
